What’s up y’all?  Welcome back to #DoubleFML FatDarrellPalooza!

Obviously, the pics and title are a tribute to the late, great Bob Ross whose afro was actually much neater than mine in the photos.  He must have used Soul Glo, his hair was glorious.

If you’re not familiar with his work, he used to have a half hour PBS show, The Joy of Painting, where he’d create beautiful artwork from scratch each episode. 

…then he’d ruin said painting by adding a massive tree that covered every last detail. 

He called them “happy little trees” not to be confused with the “happy little trees” my neighbors back in Jersey used to sell… Happy belated 4/20 by the way.

Anyway, as boring as Bob’s show may sound in 2019 with our shortened attention spans, it was captivating stuff back in the day! 

Between his soothing landscapes, positive vibes and calming voice, the show was extra wavy…like a virtual yoga class.

Plus, you could learn legit painting techniques!

So, why are we talking about this? 

Because FYE recently rolled out this amazing cereal tribute, The Joy of Cereal!

That’s FYE, as in the pop culture and entertainment store.  Not to be confused with Ja Rule’s FYRE Fest since unlike that disaster, this taste test is actually going to happen…

To my surprise, FYE had a whole section full of Bob Ross items so apparently, I missed the memo about his renewed popularity.  Who knew?!

Before we get to the tasting, I should warn you that this cereal is going to set you back $12.99…plus tax!  Obviously, it’s supposed to be a collector’s item, not necessarily eaten but that’s still pretty steep! 

I felt like Chris Rock in I’m Gonna Git You Sucka when I saw that price.  “How much for one marshmallow?” 

One of the FYI employees should have to feed it to me while making airplane noises as they bring the spoon to my mouth for that kind of cash!  But whatever, #yolo I suppose…

Although every box at my local FYE was dented (thanks for nothing Duluth, GA location!) , the overall presentation of the box is a great tribute. 

The back has an art palette cutout with inspirational quotes from the show.

The cereal itself contains 7 different marshmallows on top of a blend of toasted oats.

The show-themed marshmallow names are Happy Little Trees, Happy Little Accidents, Almighty Mountains, Guiding Stars, Rainbow Hearts, Charming Little Cabins and Lovely Little Bushes.  

Those names, wow….SO many jokes but this is a PG column so let’s just move on, shall we? 😉

Although I often use almond milk, for taste tests I prefer to use the real deal to get the full effect. 

With that said, let’s pour a bowl and try it out!

The Verdict:  Do you like Lucky Charms?  If so, you’ll love these too since they’re basically the same cereal in a more expensive box.

Obviously, Bob Ross cereal wasn’t intended to be a breakfast staple though, they’re a collector’s item that most will probably never open. 

Of course, I already did so I’m going to finish them before they’re stale, but if you’re curious how they taste, pick up a box of Lucky Charms, close your eyes and imagine yourself in a Charming Little Cabin… Namaste.

So, for nostalgic collectors or huge Bob Ross fans, these get a thumbs up from me.

Anyone else who’s just in it for the cereal, there’s nothing new or groundbreaking about the taste so save your money…or apply it to your bid for my master painting!  Cashapp me outside, how bout dah?

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Popper Duet?  What?!  You had me at “bacon wrapped”…let’s do this!

The Verdict:  Oh yeah…of the 3 remixed flavors I’ve tried, this one is my fave.  You can literally smell the bacon as soon as you open the bag!  What’s not to love?

If you read last post, you’ll also know that each comes with a downloadable Bebe Rexha song and chance to win concert tickets so let’s see if I won!

…..and the contest ended on 4/26.  I’ve had the bag sitting on my counter for over a week so I should have checked sooner!  Whoops. 

Anyway, if you can still find this flavor, it’s not bad so check it out.

Oh yeah, and shoutout to the band Snow Patrol who gave me that amazing tee in the photo last week after I did production work for their concert here in Atlanta.  Thanks lads (they’re from Ireland so I heard that phrase a lot that day)!

Speaking of production work, I’m sore from working A LOT last week.  Today’s fitness tip is just a reminder that you shouldn’t only warm up and cool down at the gym.  Physically demanding jobs and hobbies should also be treated like workouts with proper hydration and stretching!  With the temperatures rising, it’s also important to make sure you keep food in your system and protect yourself from the elements.  The daily grind can be a workout too so prepare yourselves accordingly to avoid injury.

May 5th is clearly the star of this list.  Cinco de Mayo means tacos, tacos and more tacos!  …and enchiladas apparently.  Either way, I’m down.  Bring it on!

Besides scarfing down an obscene amount of Mexican food this week, I’ll also have to finally make time to see The Avengers movie before someone ruins it for me!  So far so good, but it’s hard to trust the internet for too long so I’m going asap!

The movie is 3 hours plus previews though!  Geez, I’d better not include many drinks in my smuggled snack stash otherwise the most suspenseful battle in the movie will be me versus my bladder!

The movie is smashing box office records and getting great reviews though so I’m definitely looking forward to it.
